Dave Lepard, Crashdïet lead singer, committed suicide on 20 January 2006, due to depression.

Dave Lepard (born David Roberto Hellman) was born on 28 May 1980, in Stockholm, Sweden. From a young age, he was heavily influenced by the glam metal and hard rock bands of the 1980s, particularly Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses, and Skid Row. These bands shaped his musical style, stage presence, and the vision he had for Crashdïet.

Early Just before 01:00 on Friday, 20th January. Police in Uppsala, north of Stockholm, Sweden, rushed to David Hellman’s apartment. Hellman, also known as Dave Lepard, was the lead singer of Crashdïet. He had not contacted friends or family for 20 days. A close friend grew concerned and went to check on him. The friend entered the apartment and discovered Hellman dead, according to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

Police spokesperson Christer Nordstrom told Expressen that there was no sign of foul play in Hellman’s death. However, he added, “We don’t yet know the circumstances surrounding his death.”

Crashdïet were a Stockholm, Sweden-based Eighties hard rock-style band whose debut album, “Rest In Sleaze“, entered the Swedish national album chart at position No. 12. They were reportedly the first “sleaze rock” band in over 10 years to be signed directly to a major company – Universal Music.
